Available Dogs

If one of our available orphans tugs at your heartstrings, please fill out our Adoption Application under the “Applications” tab and you will be contacted within 48 hours.  You must be approved to adopt before you can meet our dogs.  All applications require a home visit in order to be approved.

Adoption fees vary with each dog and range from $125-$375, with $325 being the price for most. Adoptions fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end.

Moki's Story

This petite little girl is Moki. Surrendered to the local shelter when her family moved because they said they couldn’t take her. Of course Moki was terrified and confused, so she cowered at the back of her kennel and ended up on the dreaded “list.” It took her a while to make eye contact or approach me for affection, but she’s slowly opening up. We will let her settle in, and then post her bio.

Bodie's Story

Meet Bodie. This 10-11 month old boy is definitely a head turner. He’s your typical high energy, playful, in-need-of-some-basic-obedience-and-manners puppy. He gets mouthy and jumpy when overstimulated, but that’s nothing some basic training wouldn’t fix. Bodie will need more than just a walk around the block to wear off some of his puppy energy, and would probably be too much dog for a family with young kids. Bodie is very athletic, and loves the obstacle course. He’s very independent and doesnt take corrections without letting you know how he feels about it. Shepherd experience is required to adopt Mr. Bodie. If you think you are the home Bodie has been searching for, please fill out our online adoption application. It’s the first step in our adoption process.

Nine's Story

Meet 2 year old Nine. Nine was recently featured on the news when it was brought to their attention that he had been left in the backyard of a house when his owners moved away without him. We were then contacted to get him out of the yard so he could be fully vetted and a new forever home found for him. This was a very unique situation as time was of the essence, and we had to do a lot to scrambling to be able to safely get this big boy out of the yard he was protecting, who weighs over 80 pounds, and still needs to put on some weight. Nine is now in our care, and has been neutered, chipped and vaccinated. We are letting him decompress and showing him that he can trust us. Right now he isn’t interested in interacting with other dogs, but has shown no aggression. He’s very gentle and calm, and prefers to be close to those he is most familiar with. With kind, patient leadership, Nine will make a wonderful addition to the right family. If you are interested in meeting Nine, filling out our online adoption application is the first step of our adoption process. Because on a scale of 1-5, this guy is a Nine!

Karbon's Story

This big, beautiful boy is Karbon. Picked up as a stray by Animal Control, the shelter listed him as 10 years old. Whether or not that is accurate, we can’t be sure. Karbon is very anxious and nervous, but will run and play if you actively engage him. During his first few nights at our vet clinic, Karbon had a seizure. He broke a few of his toenails during the episode, but has not had another seizure, so we are holding off on putting him on anti seizure meds for now. Karbon also does very poorly in a kennel or crate, and is more relaxed when loose in the home. Karbon did fine with another large dog when walked on leash together. Karbon is in need of a very patient and understanding foster or forever home. He is drop dead gorgeous, and we know that he, just like every other VSR orphan, deserves a home where his life will be changed forever. If you are interested in committing to giving Karbon the home he’s been waiting for, please fill out our online adoption or foster application. It’s the first step of our process.

Zirk would love to go to a home where someone is home most of the time, but who can blame him? If you can offer this distinguished older gentleman the loving, compassionate home he deserves to spend his golden years in please fill out our online adoption application. Stash's Story

Meet handsome young Stash. Stash was picked up by Animal Control along with a beautiful young female. Stash is a big boy, in need of basic doggy manners, as he really likes to jump. But that’s an easy fix! Our sweet boy, Stash came to us with some sort of substance on his coat that had dried hard, and stuck the hair to his skin. After multiple attempts to remove it with Dawn soap and then canola oil were unsuccessful, and Stash was letting us know it was painful, the vets had to sedate him and shave the fur, only to find that the substance had irritated his skin to the point of an infection. Stash was immediately put on pain meds and antibiotics, and is now on his way to feeling like a million bucks. And to add insult to injury, he also developed a hematoma at his neuter site after he arrived at our vet clinic. So this poor guy has had a rough couple of weeks, but the whole time he’s been nothing but a young, playful (and jumpy, but we are working on that) dog. He walks nicely in the leash until he sees a rabbit, then its game on. He needs to gain some weight, and he will be a nice, tall boy. If you are interested in meeting Stash, the first step in our adoption process is to fill out our online adoption application. It doesn’t obligate you to adopt him or any of our orphans. It simply gets the ball rolling, should you choose to adopt from us now or in the future.

David Lee Roth's Story

Meet David Lee Roth! This canine beauty was picked up as a stray. He is recovering from an ear infection and a hematoma (more than likely his ear will not go back up) The shelter listed him as 6 years old, but our vets estimate him to be only 3 or 4 years old. He’s very gentle and still pretty timid. He’s got a little bit of an upper respiratory infection going on so we started him on some antibiotics and will get him neutered once his cold clears up. He rode great in the car, and wasn’t really sure how to get out. This guy is going to be drop dead gorgeous once we get him all cleaned up and feeling good. We will post a detailed bio once we know more about him.
