Available Dogs

If one of our available orphans tugs at your heartstrings, please fill out our Adoption Application under the “Applications” tab and you will be contacted within 48 hours.  You must be approved to adopt before you can meet our dogs.  All applications require a home visit in order to be approved.

Adoption fees vary with each dog and range from $125-$400, with $350 being the price for most. Adoptions fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end.

Ben's Story

3 yr old Ben was being given away on Craigslist when his family could no longer care for him.  A Good Samaritan stepped up and offers to foster this sweet boy and called us at VSR for help.  Ben is looking for his forever home now.  He is currently living with another shepherd and is dog friendly and visits the dog park regularly.  He’s human friendly and social to all he meets so far.  He loves to play ball with his human friends and would love and active home where he gets lots of exercise.   He’s a virtual unicorn of a dog and would fit perfectly into most experienced families looking to adopt a GSD.

Zen's Story

2 year old Zen is a handful of a dog.  He has high puppy like energy and loves to play.  He’s not a fan of other 4 legged friends but loves his humans like crazy.   He is working on his leash manners as he reacts to animals he sees on walks.   He is treat and praise/affection motivated and learns quickly.  He’s a special boy we saved from a backyard where he had lived his whole life for the most part with little to no attention.  We are please to see the changes in him as he learns and grows into the dog he’s meant to be.  Small children and other pets aren’t his cup of tea.  He has an offer to undergo training and his Adoptor(s) will get help from his trainer.

Milo's Story

Welcome handsome Milo to the VSR family.   Milo’s dad was injured during a break in and left him with a friend for care and never returned.   Milo lived with dogs from chiweenie size to a Cane Corso.  He is approximately 2-3.   We do know he chases children if they run, so no small children at this time.   He seems to have no reaction to most adults aside from the usual shepherd guardedness the first few minutes.    He’s a young energetic boy who loves to play.

Dezi & Lucy's Story

Welcome Dezi and Lucy, bonded 5 yr old male and female sheps who were dropped out of a truck in a parking lot.  Thankfully they were witnessed being abandoned and after changing hands a few times they were brought to us at VSR.   We continued to make sure no legitimate owner was coming forward and now they are available for adoption.

These two are the best.  They are super friendly and have a lot of love to give.  They are attached at the hip and where one goes, the other follows.  They do nothing without each other.  They are the ultimate best friends.   They howl at each other when kenneled and seem to prefer to just hang out near their human friends.  They are very well behaved and have no obvious behavioral issues so far.
Dezi is protective of his Lucy and it’s unknown how they will do with other furry companions so far, but Dezi tends to get worked up when he sees one so it may need some work to get them to live with other pets.
Dezi is 100lb and Lucy is about 70.

If you think you might be able to foster or adopt these absolutely loving babies, please apply.

Xander's Story

This rising star is Xander.  He is being fostered and worked with by Leader Of The Pack K9 Training’s Antonio Diaz.   Thanks to Antonio, Xander is learning to be the best dog he can be.  He fits in with large well behaved dogs.   This big 4-5 yr old boy would love a family of his own with older children (teenage age) to play with or even a couple looking for a fur kid to call their own.   He is well behaved and does well with some guidance.  Xander is a powerful and stunning boy. Xander is very affectionate, playful and willing to learn. He is food and praise motivated and loves to play with his favorite human. He follows directions well and is crate trained. He is a loyal dog and needs to have a good relationship with everyone in the home. He gets along great with large dogs in the home but does not like meeting strange dogs. The ideal owner for Xander will work with him to create rules, boundaries and provide structure. Xander is the  epitome of a Shepherd and does need a dedicated owner with breed experience.
