Sweet Marvel is the very example of what it means when we say it takes a village in
rescue. We got word that this young baby had been abandoned by a local marijuana
farm outside Barstow, which is a frequent occurrence in the area. Luckily for her, she
happened to follow two wandering sheps home to safety. Unluckily, they were not
altered. However, once the Good Samaritan shep owners realized she was pregnant,
they knew they were in over their heads and needed to request help. They reached out and a village answered.
Luck stayed on Marvel's side when a transporter came forward to help get her to Vegas Shepherd Rescue. We managed to get an available and experienced puppy foster, and now for the first time in her recent past, Marvel is sleeping indoors with a belly full of home made dog food.
Now that Marvel’s puppies are finding their own families, she is ready to find her forever home. She’s recovered from her hard start and is sweet with people, a little timid at first but warms up quickly. She is also super food motivated so snacks and food puzzle toys win her heart. Marvel is very affectionate once she knows you, will follow you around and be involved with everything. She has good manners on a leash and knows sit, down, and (sometimes!) wait. She's been gentle and calm so far, though some of that may be recovering from the puppies! She is crated when no one is home and goes in willingly especially when there are treats involved! Marvel enjoys walking in the park and is getting more comfortable hopping in and out of the car. The wonderful groomer at Just Like Home took good care of her, saying she behaved herself and ended up giving everybody kisses. She can be picky with her dog friends, and we haven’t seen her with cats.
All in all, she’s a darling!
